HOME REMODEL - PORTLAND, OR

June, 2017

This historic home is located in the Irvington/Alameda overlap district, requiring coordination, design and approval from the Irvington neighborhood historic registry. The Buildworks team, aided by the expertise of our project architect, was able to add an additional 1500 sq. ft. to what was a small 1300 sq. ft. bungalow. Code required preservation of the front of the home, while providing the ability to update key structural elements. We successfully completed reconstruction of the concrete retaining wall and driveway, as well as substantial upgrades to the original structure of the home. Stylistically, the architectural integrity of the home was preserved, and the addition is “invisible” to the street view. Craftsman era detailing, including windows and doors, reflect original historic features which make this home unique. New modern elements, such as lighting, finishes and kitchen and bath design, were brought up to date to reflect current trends.
